SON AT THE MANUFACTURING AND EQUIPMENT EXPO- LAGOS, NIGERIA 2017

Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) was at the Manufacturing and Equipment Expo (NME) -Nigeria, 2017 which held from 14th –16th March 2017 at the Landmark Centre, Lagos.

The event is one of the most comprehensive Manufacturing & Equipment Expo in Nigeria, with exhibition by local and International Equipment Manufacturers who showcase new technologies in equipment and tools to attract local patronage that are required to meet local needs to foster industrial growth and sustainable development.

The event organised by Clarion Events in partnership with the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) was declared open on 14th March, 2017. The Director General/ Chief Executive, SON, Mr. Osita Anthony Aboloma was represented at the event by Mrs Mosunmola Samuel, Head, Customer Feedback and Collaboration. In her remarks, Mrs. Samuel urged the Stakeholders to key into the Vision 2020 goals of the Federal Government by promoting Made-in-Nigeria products for the world. Manufacturers and Investors were urged to ensure their products continuously conformed with the requirements of the Nigerian Industrial Standards (NIS) to promote market access and International competitiveness.

SON’s participation was to enlighten Investors, Manufacturers and Stakeholders on the importance and guidelines for ensuring conformity with SON’s Conformity Assessment Programmes – Standard Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programmes (SONCAP), for off-shore products; Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programmes (MANCAP) for Certification of locally manufactured products; and Product Registration for traceability of Products to the respective Manufacturers and/or Importers.

SON also participated in the Interactive Session which was held on 15th March, 2017. The Director General (SON) was represented at the programme by Mrs. Nike Owoyele, the Regional Coordinator, South-West. She also reiterated the role and benefits of Standardisation and quality assurance in industrial growth.
