Stakeholders recently gathered at a technical committee meeting in Lagos under the auspices of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria to consider draft standards for Radiator Coolant, Liquid, Paste and Screen Printing Inks for consideration and recommendation to the Standards Council.

Declaring the meeting open, Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Aboloma commended the support of Messrs. Autohal Nigeria Limited, Idimu and Sonnex Packaging Limited, Ojota, both in Lagos State towards hosting the technical committee meeting in the spirit of public private partnership.

He assured the committee members of the agency’s commitment to the promotion of standards and quality assurance practices, taking optimum advantage of the SON Act 14 of 2015.

Represented by Mr. Agboola Afolayan, the SON DG charged the committee to bring their expertise and deep knowledge to bear in the final draft recommendations to the Standards Council to ensure the facilitation of commerce and industry through their implementation and application.

Responding, the Chairman of the Technical Committee, Professor Percy Onianwa of the Department of Chemistry, University of Ibadan  pledged the commitment of the members to deliver on the national assignment in the overall interest of the Nation’s economy.

According to him, the draft standard on radiator coolant is new in Nigeria while the liquid ink standard was being reviewed to include paste ink for wider application including for screen printing as demanded by the stakeholders.
