SON Will Not Compromise Standards, Says DG
The Director-General(DG), Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Mr. Osita Aboloma said the organization would not compromise standards of products manufactured locally and outside the country.
Aboloma stated this at the opening of a two-day capacity building workshop organized for factory inspectors from Baruch, Adam awarded, Taraba, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Plateau, Benue, and Nassarawa states held at the NJ Bauchi Press Center Conference Hall
According to him, “Standards Organisation of Nigeria will ensure that locally and foreign manufactured products will have the required level of satisfaction and standard desired by consumers before going to market” .
Aboloma urged the participants who were to be trained on factory and products inspection to ensure that locally manufactured and imported goods meet the minimum requirements of the Nigerian Industrial Standard or other approved standards in the country.
He charged them to pay much needed attention to the training to ensure effective service delivery and standardization of products in Nigeria.
The DG, who was represented by Assistant Director Operations, Alhaji Adamu Abba Bauchi said “the training would go a long way to ensure conformity of assessment activities when the staff acquire the needed skills “.
The Trainer, Engineer Abner Timothy said the two days training would focus on conformity assessment and inspection based on international standards.
He commended the Management of the organization for organizing such an important capacity building training, saying that the timing was right, when the nation needed standard products through adequate mentoring and monitoring of manufacturers in the country.
